Loss of skin volume, increasing skin laxity, and deeper fine lines and wrinkles are only three of the most common issues associated with aging skin – and unfortunately for most, these issues occur all at once. While there are several cosmetic treatments that can address any one of these issues, at Beautique Medical in Knoxville, TN we know the most effective treatments to tackle all age-related appearance concerns are Dermal Fillers and other injectable treatments.
Dermal Fillers: Explaining Injectables
Dermal Fillers are some of the most sought-after cosmetic treatments at any clinic, including ours. Injectables are popular for several reasons, including the long-lasting results and the versatility of the filler treatments. The best part about these treatments is the fact that a skilled hand coupled with the right filler can neatly sculpt and renew your appearance.
How Dermal Fillers Work
Fillers at our clinic include Juvederm and Nurse Shara. Juvederm is a family of specialized fillers that can restore lost volume in the face, such as in the hollows of cheeks, beneath the eye, and around the mouth. Nurse Shara is a small collection that is used to contour and rejuvenate the lips. But how do they work? The key to injectable treatments is the trademarked solution in each syringe. Many of these solutions are specially formulated to stimulate the body’s natural production of skin-supporting proteins, particularly collagen and elastin. Others introduce new biologically compatible compounds, such as hyaluronic acid, to restore and plump the skin. Most filler treatments are designed to be used on specific areas of the face, as each solution has a different texture that is appropriate for different skin. For example, a filler you might use on the cheeks would not be appropriate for the lips because lips have much more sensitive and thin skin.
The Beautique Medical Anti-Aging Difference
Dermal fillers require BOTH a complete and thorough understanding of anatomy, the location and depth of skin, muscles, nerves and ARTISTRY to understand the shows and symmetry that create beauty. Any qualified person may become an injector, but it is only the elite who can see the face as a canvas and the needle as the paint brush. We use a wide range of fillers, each has its own set of properties and benefits in certain areas and at certain depths.
Here at Beautique we are medical anti-aging artisans. We specialize in beautiful, natural-looking, symmetrical results, and we specialize in the correction of ill-placed fillers from other providers.
Lips
The lips has been a favorite procedures of Nurse Shara for over 20 years, and she has mastered the art. People have flown from al over the country for her lips. Who doesn’t love a more hydrated, plumb, juicy, kissable pout? Whether you want a more natural, softer lip or a little extra volume, Nurse Shara and her team of medical professional are here to help you get the look you’ve always wanted. Facial Contouring
Dermal fillers can be used to fill in lines, hollows, and wrinkles or volumize areas that need plumping or shaping. The injector-artist can fill in under the eyes (tear troughs) which can make a huge difference in appearance when done properly and can give you a brighter and rejuvenated appearance. This is a very delicate area and should only be trusted in the hands of a skilled injector. Other favorite facial treatment areas are nose and jaw contouring, nasolabial folds, chin, philtrum, oral commissures, and even the ear lobes.
Body Contouring
Dermal fillers can also be used to plumb areas of the body, such as the back of the hands, and even our genitalia (male enhancement, labial puff).
What You Can Expect During Dermal Filler Treatment
There are a few steps involved in injectable treatments that are common to most cosmetic clinics. At Beautique, we prioritize the personalization of your treatment, so you can rest assured that your treatment plan is tailored to your exact needs and wants. We approach your restorative treatments as an artist would a painting, meaning we use the canvas of your face to emphasize your best features.
Consultation
Whether you are seeking a new filler for the first time or wanting to correct an ill-placed filler from another clinic, you will need to attend a free consultation appointment. The consultation is a chance for us to learn about you and your appearance goals. We will discuss any appearance-related concerns you have, examine the treatment area, and talk about your expectations for treatment. We may also gather some information, such as previous cosmetic treatments you have had and any potential drug allergies.
Pre-Treatment
We will provide you with a list of pre-treatment instructions to help you prepare for treatment. These are standard instructions that are used for injectable treatments and may include:
- Do not take aspirin for at least 5 days
- Avoid certain vitamins and supplements
- Do not use Retinol products
- Drink an adequate amount of water
You will not need to arrange for transportation on the day of your appointment. We ask that patients arrive at their appointment with a clean, fresh face with hair pulled back.
Step One: Prep
The first step of your treatment is to prepare your skin for the injections. We will gently cleanse and sanitize your skin to remove all potential oil, dirt, make-up, and bacteria. At patient request, we can apply a topical numbing cream to ensure your comfort for the duration of the treatment.
Step Two: Injection
One of our skilled technicians will perform your filler treatment. Using a small, thin needle, the filler solution will be injected into your skin at designated treatment areas to craft the appearance you desire. Most filler treatments involve at least two or more tiny injections at various treatment areas. If you are treating multiple areas on the face, your treatment will involve more injections. If you are seeking treatment to correct an over-filled Juvederm treatment from another clinic, this is the step where we will dissolve and remove the old filler at ideal areas. We will then use any remaining filler or inject a new filler to meet your expected appearance goals.
Post-Treatment
We will provide you with a list of post-treatment instructions to help guide you through the recovery period. These are standard instructions that are used after injectable treatments and should be followed for at least 3 days after your appointment. Some post-treatment instructions may include:
- Avoid excessive heat, sweating, and strenuous movement
- No direct sunlight
- Wear SPF
- Do not drink alcohol for at least 24 hours
- Avoid aspirin and certain supplements
- Do not touch or massage the treatment area
We may provide you with additional directions after your appointment. For example, while you are free to wear make-up after your appointment, we may give you advice on how to remove make-up and wash the skin without agitating the healing process. We may also give you directions on how to use cold compresses on the treatment area.
Recovery and Results
The majority of patients are fully recovered from filler treatments within 3 to 7 days of treatment. After your recovery, you will begin to notice the results of your filler treatment within 7 to 14 days of treatment. You may be asked to attend a follow-up appointment at this time to assess how well you are responding to treatment.
